Online users are going crazy about the Kai Sotto controversy and his leaked video. The video is not, however, as incorrect or indecent as many might anticipate. In 2020, Sotto and Jalen Green, both 18 at the time, were seen dominating their games in the NBA G League in a leaked video.

The two basketball prodigies could be seen in the video enjoying themselves while playing in the developing league. Houston Rockers selected Jalen Green with the second overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

But since he had only finished from high school that year and could not join until 2022, Sotto was ineligible for the NBA Draft in 2021. Sotto worked with numerous clubs after declaring for the 2022 NBA Draft, but he was not selected.

Career in Basketball of Kai Sotto

In April 2016, Kai Sotto began attending the Ateneo de Manila High School and joined the junior basketball league in Quezon City. Averaging 17 points, 13 rebounds, and 6.3 blocks per game, he helped the Aterno squad win the UAAP Basketball Championship and was voted the game’s MVP.

The next season, Sotto averaged 25.1 points, 13.9 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks, earning him the title of UAAP juniors MVP. He began attending The Skill Factory, an Atlanta, Georgia-based training school, in November 2019.

The next season, Sotto made his collegiate debut against IMG Academy and finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds in a 65-61 defeat. With an average of 27 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 4.3 blocks at the King Invitational tournament in January 2020, Kai was voted the MVP.

During the NBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago in February 2020, he participated in the Basketball Without Borders Global Camp. The 21-year-old was rated as a four-star prospect by most major American organizations.

He gave up his eligibility to play collegiate basketball and signed up with the NBA G League Ignite in May 2020. Sotto inked a deal with the Adelaide 36ers of the Australian National Basketball League after being unable to participate in the 2021 NBA Draft.

Sotto said in February 2023 that he would be leaving the Adelaide 36ers and joining a foreign club. The Japanese B.League’s Hiroshima Dragonflies later signed the Filipino basketball star. After the season, Sotto’s contract expires, and he intends to play in the 2023 NBA Summer League.
