In a series of posts from Election Day, the singer explained why she voted for Caruso: Los Angeles is a “hot mess.” The Roar singer may be seen in one of the images taking a picture in front of the vote and selecting Caruso. She is captured in another image posing in front of the polling place.
“We appreciate your vote.” Congratulations, you’ve cast your ballot in the November 8, 2022, general election. When you depart, don’t forget to take your sticker with you.
Internet users were outraged by Katy Perry’s Instagram post and accused her of endorsing a politician known for “hopping parties.” Rick Caruso has been a Republican for the majority of his life, even though he is currently running as a Democrat for mayor of Los Angeles. He had nonpartisan registration before joining the Democratic Party.
When did Rick Caruso change his party affiliation?
The youngest commissioner in the history of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Rick Caruso started his career in government service at the age of 26.
He was appointed to the Los Angeles Board of Police Commissioners in 2001, and he was subsequently chosen to serve as the board’s president.
He was also chosen to serve on the Los Angeles Coliseum Commission in 2008. When considering a 2013 mayoral run, Caruso, who had previously been considered a devoted Republican, altered his party affiliation in 2011 to “den to declare.”
The Los Angeles Times reports that Caruso re-registered as a Republican in March 2016 and kept his support up until the general election in 2019.
Shortly after, he reportedly made the switch to “no-party preference,” and in January of this year, he finally applied to join the Democratic Party. Over a month later, Caruso publicly registered to run for mayor of 2022. Rick Caruso, who switched twice between Republican and no-party preferences before re-registering as a Democrat four months ago, reportedly changed parties four times in the preceding 11 years, according to the Los Angeles Times.
In a statement published on Tuesday, the owner of the Caruso firm declared that he was “proud to be a Democrat.” He described himself as “fiscally conservative but socially supportive of how individuals choose to live their lives,” claiming to be moderate.
I was a moderate Republican, she said. When I was independent, I was a centrist. As a Democrat, I tend to tilt in that direction.
Caruso has reportedly contributed significantly to Republican candidates over the years but has recently made frequent contributions to Democratic lawmakers.
Due to Rick Caruso’s ongoing movement in party affiliation over the years, his mayoral candidacy has long been under scrutiny.
Contrary to other voters, singer Katy Perry has consistently shown her support for the candidate. The musician has already received criticism for openly endorsing Caruso on social media. Because her preferred mayoral candidate, Rick Caruso, opposed abortion rights, she came under fire for rejecting the Roe v. Wade ruling in July.
After voting for Caruso to become mayor of Los Angeles, Kate Perry once more found herself in danger. Many people responded to her decision and vote of preference on Twitter.
As comments keep pouring in online, it’s unclear if Katy Perry will react to the mounting criticism of her continuous choices. Along with Perry, other well-known people have backed Caruso, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Pratt, and Snoop Dogg.
