Lee served in the US Army for seven years, the majority of which were spent in the Military Intelligence Corps, after being commissioned as a second lieutenant through the Army ROTC program.
The unit of paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division in Tikrit, Iraq, was tasked with supporting the operation in Iraq in the summer of 2006. He began practicing law in Smithtown, New York in 2008 after serving as an attorney for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey since 2007.
He had a full-time job with the company before being chosen in 2010 to represent New York’s 3rd State Senate District. For his part, Zeldin ran against Democrat Brian X.

His opponent in the main election was the Democrat Perry Gershon, who was also supported by the Working Families Party. He defeated his rival, Gershon, by a margin of 51.5% to 47.4%. Lee doesn’t have any opposition in the 2020 Republican presidential primary. He defeated Democratic opponent Nancy Goroff on November 3, 2020, the main election day.
