Richard Penniman was born on December 5, 1932, in Macon, Georgia. He was well-liked by both whites and blacks and is recognized for using music to bridge the gap between the two groups. Here’s Little Richard, his debut album, was issued by him in 1957. On the Billboard Pop Albums chart, the album, which featured the popular single Long Tall Sally, peaked at No. 13. Little Richard and The Fabulous Little Richard followed in 1958 and 1959, respectively.
