Man United Willing To Offer €55 Million To Snap Up Barcelona Superstar De Jong

Man United

Man United is prepared to spend €55 million to acquire starlet De Jong from Barcelona. According to rumors, Manchester United is considering buying Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona.

The Red Devils are willing to spend up to €55 million to recruit the Dutch magista, claims the Catalan tabloid El Nacional.

De Jong moved from Ajax to Barcelona in 2019 for an estimated cost of €75 million. The club looked to the Dutchman as Sergio Busquets’ replacement. Busquets is still on the roster, thus de Jong has been moved to a different spot.

He hasn’t been as productive as he was at Ajax since he has been shifted around the midfield. De Jong, 24, is arguably one of the best holding midfielders in the world.

The Dutchman has played 107 games for Barcelona so far, contributing to 14 goals and nine himself. According to earlier rumors, Xavi, the new Barcelona manager, was open to selling de Jong to raise money for the team.

Jonathan De Jong

Paul Scholes’ successor has been sought after by Manchester United for almost ten years. Even the retired former England midfielder was summoned back to play holding midfield.

Since then, Manchester United has spent almost £1 billion, yet they have yet to add a world-class magista to their lineup. At Manchester United, Scott McTominay isn’t ready to take Nemanja Matic’s place. Box-to-box midfielder Fred was put into that position, but it has not been successful.

The reason for the club’s interest in de Jong may be that they have realized that adding a holding midfielder might significantly change the balance of their team.

De Jong will blend in well at Old Trafford given the composition of the Manchester United squad as it stands right now. If he screens the defense, they let guys like Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes charge forward in the middle of the field.

According to rumors, United is prepared to spend €55 million on the Dutchman. Barcelona will be tested since it offers substantial funding at a time when the team is having financial difficulties.
