When Mandy was abducted from her hometown of Acme, Washington, she was an 18-year-old college student. Bass was charged with the offense after being found guilty of it.

On December 12th, 2017, Timothy Bass was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder in relation to the passing of Mandy Stavik.
