Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen was born on January 27, 1976. He was a former captain in the Royal Canadian Air Force and a CF-18 fighter jet pilot at CFB Cold Lake, Alberta. He and David Saint-Jacques were chosen in 2009 to join the Canadian Space Agency as astronauts.
Hansen has been selected as a mission specialist for the Artemis 2 flight and has been raised to the rank of colonel. He is on track to become history’s first non-American and Canadian astronaut to go to the moon in 2024.
Because of his outstanding contributions to space exploration, Hansen serves as a role model for many aspiring astronauts.

Krista Hansen, a medical professional with a focus on obstetrics and gynecology, is Jeremy Hansen’s wife. She finished her residency program in 2001 at Hamilton, Ontario’s McMaster University before going on to Johns Hopkins University to get her master’s in public health.
She worked as a locum tenens in Ontario after finishing her education, covering other people’s OBGYN practices.
Krista and her husband relocated to Cold Lake, Alberta, in 2002, where she established her own OBGYN clinic and eventually became the only OBGYN in the region. She stayed at Cold Lake for seven years before having to travel to Texas for her husband’s astronaut training.
As the spouse of an astronaut, Krista has had to learn to adapt to a certain lifestyle that involves numerous movements and extended separations from her husband. She has had to manage both her own hard profession as a medical doctor and the bulk of the childcare duties.

Despite the difficulties, Krista is supportive of her husband’s ambition to become an astronaut and has made arrangements for her and their children in case he needs to spend a lot of time away while on a space mission.
She is qualified to respond to any special medical queries or concerns that could come up during her husband’s astronaut training and space missions because of her experience in medicine.
In general, Krista is a strong and successful woman who has devoted her career to helping people as a medical professional and as a devoted partner to her astronaut husband.
