Michael Holmes, a 57-year-old telecom technician, and his wife were tragically killed in an accident close to their house on Hollinghirst Lane in Netherton, West Yorkshire.

As previously mentioned, Michael Holmes died after being crushed by cows while participating in the pandemic walk.
The Holmes pair continued their normal habit of daily walks and working from home throughout the epidemic. The couple typically travelled the same route, which took them 30 minutes on average.
The couple took their two daughter’s dogs for a stroll on September 29, 2020.
The two approached a field on the JA Mitchell & Sons property and utilized a public route up it without realizing there were several dozen cows with calves at the top of the steep hill.
Cows assaulted the pair from behind, as shown on CCTV video from a neighboring home.
Michael Holmes suffered serious chest injuries and passed away right afterward. The dogs they were walking were able to get away from the situation.
Teresa Holmes, Michael Holmes’s ex-wife, is now disabled
Teresa Holmes has broken ribs in addition to a spinal cord injury, yet she is still alive. She had to stay in the hospital for six months as a consequence.
Since the event, Teresa has used a wheelchair.
Mrs. Holmes testified at the inquest that she was unable to recall the occurrence and that it was her daughters who had to inform the family of Michael’s death.
The telecom worker’s distraught husband said that it was very stressful and isolated for her.
Mrs. Holmes said that she and her husband were aware that cattle “sometimes” inhabited the area off Hollinghirst Lane. On that particular day, though, the steep elevation made it impossible for them to see them.

Two walkers who had chased cows in the same area about four months prior to Michael’s death testified before the inquiry.
The farm’s owner, Martin Mitchell, said that while he had not heard of any incidents with his cattle becoming “violent,” cows who are nursing puppies do not get along well with dogs because they “view a dog as a predator.”
After the fatal occurrence, Mitchell said he had presented suggestions to Wakefield council requesting a route adjustment.

Teresa Holmes and Michael Holmes are said to have been childhood sweethearts. 34 years have passed since they were married.
During the lockdown, the married couple enjoyed taking a stroll. The cute pair had no idea that tragedy would occur that day.
The infatuated couple also had a few daughters together. Sadly, the death cut short the Holmes couple’s time together.
The abrupt passing of Michael must have been difficult for the Holmes family to absorb. I hope things are going well for them now.
