Meghan Trainor issued an apology on Sunday (April 23) for controversial remarks she made about educators on her podcast recently.
The pop icon said in a TikTok video,
“TikTok teachers and teachers of the world, I recently said ‘F teachers’ on the podcast and that’s not how I feel.” “I was enraged because we were discussing how horrifying it is to send a child to school in the United States.”
The “Mother” singer added in her caption,
“I apologize for being reckless with my words. I ADORE educators, and I am here for you…Let’s work together to make schools better places.”
During the Wednesday, April 19 episode of Workin’ On It, her podcast co-hosted with husband Daryl Sabara, Meghan Trainor, and guest Trisha Paytas discussed the risks of sending children to public school in the current climate of mass shootings, active shooter exercises, and more.
“We homeschool our children,” she informed Paytas at the time. Everyone on TikTok is like, ‘This is what it’s like to be a parent in the United States. I have a bullet-resistant knapsack.
I exclaimed,
“F–k all of that!” After the YouTuber concurred and added that she was also concerned about bullies and teachers, Trainor responded, “F–k teachers, dude,” to which fans and listeners responded with outrage.
In between the podcast interview and her subsequent apology, Trainor released the blooper video for her “Mother” music video, which featured a sonogram of her second child and candid choreography with special guest Kris Jenner.
