Melanie “Mel” Nunes Fronckowiak (born 16 January 1988; Polish pronunciation: [frntskvjak]) is a Brazilian actress, writer, and TV personality. Fronckowiak rose to prominence after appearing in various advertisements and television commercials while working as a model in Sao Paulo for the Ford Models agency, which led to her role as Carla in the Brazilian youth soap opera Rebeldes. Fronckowiak began her career as a journalist in 2013. In her first book, Inclassficavel: Memórias da Estrada, she recounts her adventures with the band Rebeldes as they toured forty Brazilian cities.

Early Life and Bio

Mel Fronckowiak was born in Pelotas, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, to psychologist Berenice Nunes and André Fronckowiak. She acted in the school drama Grêmio Estudiantes and was a class representative on multiple occasions. She got a scholarship to a university in Santa Cruz to do Sul, where her paternal uncle lived when she was in high school. Fronckowiak became a model at the age of 19 after winning Miss World Rio Grande do Sul, Miss Personality, and Miss Sul World.

Career

Fronckowiak did amateur theater after working as a model and began her television career by acting in commercials. She made a cameo appearance in the Brazilian soap opera Viver a Vida in 2010. She signed with Rede Record in 2010, and the following year, she joined the cast of Rebelde, where she played Carla. Carla is a member of the pop band Rebeldes on the show. Fronckowiak was one of the ensemble’s six members, and the group went on to play outside of the show.

In October 2011, the former model was named Girl of the Year at Nickelodeon Brazil’s Meus Prêmios Nick adolescent gala. She won two categories in the Troféu Internet in 2012 and was nominated for the Troféu Imprensa, one of Brazil’s most prestigious annual television awards. Fronckowiak published Inclassficavel: Memórias da Estrada in May of 2013. (Unclassifiable: Memories of the Road). According to her, the book was rejected by a big publisher because it was “impossible to categorize.” The book’s title was influenced by this encounter. Poetic musings and a compilation of short stories from the Rebeldes’ tour of forty cities across Brazil are included in the book.

Fronckowiak has been a television personality since 2014. She agreed to work on the show A Liga with Rede Bandeirantes. Globosat hired her in February 2015 to host Destino Certo, which aired on September 3, 2015. This was her first solo show, and it was extended for another year.

Fronckowiak joined the cast of El Hipnotizador, Brazil’s first multilingual HBO television series, in 2015. HBO Brasil and HBO Latin America Group broadcasted it concurrently in all Latin American nations, as well as on Hispanic stations in the United States. In the same year, Fronckowiak established Sweet Ray of Style, a fashion blog that got support from major brands like Chanel. Fronckowiak was confirmed as part of the main cast of 3 percent, the first Brazilian original series on Netflix, in 2016.
