Mel Tiangco Husband | Relationship With Jay Sonza

Mel Tiangco

Carmela Corro Tiangco, also known as Mel Tiangco, is a Filipino television presenter and news anchor. She is a multiple-award-winning news anchor and a news pillar for GMA News and Public Affairs.

After graduating from De La Salle University, she rose to become one of the most prominent newscasters on Philippine television.

In September 1981, she began her television career on the government-run channel MBS, where she hosted the cultural program “Encore” and anchored the newscast “Newscenter 4”

Mel labored until the conclusion of the Marcos administration at the government station. Then, she moved to ABS-CBN and took over as co-anchor of Balita Ngayon, the network’s former newscast.

She ascended to fame by serving as one of the first anchors of TV Patrol, the most popular news program on ABS-CBN, from 1987 to 1995.

Mel was the anchor of Saksi on the GMA Network from 1996 to 1999, and the presenter of Frontpage: Ulat ni Mel Tiangco from 1999 to 2004.

She co-hosted the talk programs Mel & Jay with fellow journalist Jay Sonza, Mel & Joey with writer-comedian-TV presenter Joey de Leon, and Sanib Puwersa with Arnold Clavio.

Let’s read the article to find out more about Mel Tiangco’s spouse.

Relationship With Jay Sonza

GMA-7 is discussing the dispute between Tiangco and Jay Sonza, a former co-host of Mel & Jay and ABS-CBN. Mel & Jay originally aired on ABS-CBN from 1989 to 1996. The investigation lasted sixteen years.

GMA-7 issued a formal statement in March 2011 regarding the Supreme Court’s decision to dismiss the cases brought by ABS-CBN against Tiangco, Sonza, and GMA-7. Sunday’s Mel & Jay program on ABS-CBN was formerly anchored by Tiangco and Sonza.

The Supreme Court ruled that Mel and Jay’s departure from the network was lawful and that GMA-7 had no influence on their decision.

The statement stated, “There was no evidence that GMA persuaded Mel and Jay to leave ABS-CBN, as they had already terminated their contracts with ABS-CBN when they moved to GMA.”

This media guideline is implemented worldwide. A newscaster is prohibited from promoting a product, whether in print or on television.

As a journalist, he or she is not permitted to use his or her credibility to obtain endorsements. This is the reason why ABS-CBN suspended Tiangco, despite the fact that the public is oblivious.

Mel was punished with a three-month suspension without pay from her duties as co-anchor of TV Patrol and host of the Mel & Jay radio program. However, she continued to make Sunday appearances on Mel & Jay.

Later, Jay departed ABS-CBN, and Mel declined to tape for the program while taking an indefinite leave of absence from the network.
