After more than 18 years of employment, meteorologist Michelle Muscatello has decided to leave her position at 12 News.
She chose to leave her present position and begin a new one in the private sector because she wanted to prioritize spending more time with her family.
Michelle Muscatello expressed her thanks for the opportunity to realize her childhood dream and be a part of people’s everyday morning rituals in a Facebook post.
She mentioned that the most fulfilling part of her profession was being able to influence the community, even though she liked the adrenaline of covering weather events.
Michelle also apologized to the people of Block Island for concealing her pregnancy for several months while providing weather forecasts.
Michelle Muscatello has worked early morning shifts and covered news events since joining WPRI in 2004, but she has also been active in several other activities.
She has spoken in front of audiences, acted as a mentor to interns, and worked closely with several nonprofit organizations, including MADD and Make-A-Wish MA/RI.
She further collaborated with Project Undercover, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, Special Olympics, and the American Cancer Society.
Michelle Muscatello recognized how quickly her kids had grown, with one starting high school the next year.
Muscatello didn’t want to lose any more priceless opportunities to spend time with her family or feel too worn out to take pleasure in their humorous conversations and other evening activities.

Michelle Muscatello’s future position is unknown, however, the reporter has mentioned that she would be joining the private sector in the spring.
According to estimates, Muscatello made between $45,000 and $110,500 each year.
In a statement, WPRI recognized Muscatello’s resignation and thanked her for her accomplishments.
Muscatello had been a key member of the Pinpoint Weather team for 18 years, according to the statement.
Critical weather occurrences including hurricanes, tornadoes, and blizzards were all covered by Michelle.
Muscatello’s commitment to ensuring the safety of viewers during such incidents was emphasized by WPRI News Director Karen Rezendes.
The statement also noted Muscatello’s enormous contribution to the team and how her departure will be keenly mourned.
In the press release, WPRI General Manager Patrick Wholey stated that the organization had anticipated her departure for some time and had made sufficient preparations for the change.
The station will provide additional details closer to Muscatello’s scheduled departure date in the late spring, he added.
Michelle frequently appeared on the weekly newscasts Eyewitness News This Morning and Eyewitness News at Noon during her time at WPRI.
