The solo comedy series Mo, hosted by Palestinian-American stand-up comedian Mo Amer, will debut on Netflix on August 24 at 12 a.m. PT/3 a.m. ET.

After the 2018 special Mo Amer: The Vagabond, Amer’s second Netflix comedy project. Solvan “Slick” Naim is the director of the eight 30-minute episodes that make up Mo. Amer will portray Mo Najjar, the series’ main character. Before the comedy series premieres on August 24, here is all you need to know about it.
The comedy-drama series’ trailer depicts Mo Amer’s experiences as a Palestinian-American living in America and follows his life as a person without citizenship in either Palestine or the United States. Mo describes himself as a “refugee-free agent” in the teaser. He is seen giving strange objects to people, and when questioned, he responds as follows:
Additionally, the trailer touches on religion, Islam practice in the United States, and what it means to lead a multicultural life.
“As a Palestinian refugee who is always only a step away from sanctuary while working his way toward American citizenship, Mo Najjar lives on the cusp of two cultures, three languages, and a ton of bullsh*t.
His family, which includes his steadfast and spiritual mother, sister, and older brother, flee to Houston, Texas. Mo overcomes his discomfort by laughing it off as he gets used to his new environment, even though moving on in life involves many obstacles.
A closer examination of Mo’s cast
Along with directing the show, Mo Amer and fellow comedian Ramy Youssef both act as its executive producer and creator. Amer and Youssef have worked together before. In two seasons of Ramy’s Hulu comedy, Amer portrayed Youssef’s Muslim cousin Ramy.
Additionally, Mo Amer is a member of the renowned comedy troupe Allah Made Me Funny. The other two in the group are Bryant “Preacher” Moss and Azhar Usman.
What is known about the characters in the upcoming comedy series is as follows:
First, Mo Najjar
The character of Najjar, played by Mo Amer, is a refugee in the US who had to go through a difficult immigration process. He makes a significant effort to provide for his family by selling unusual products because he is unable to enter the conventional labor market due to the lack of legal documentation.
2) Maria Teresa Ruiz
performs the role of Mo’s businesswoman girlfriend. Maria is a strong-willed woman who is devoted to her friendship with Mo but won’t give up her independence or her moral principles.
Three) Yusra Najjar
Yusra Najjar Farah Bsieso portrays Mo’s mother. She is witty and quick-witted and acts as the meddling head of the family when necessary. Yusra’s interests continue to be her family, God, and the television game show The Price is Right despite the challenges she faces as a refugee in the United States.
Sameer 4)
Mo’s older brother is Najjar Sameer, who is portrayed by Omar Elba. He has always loved cats, and despite his social anxiety, he secretly yearns for freedom and love.
5) Nick
Nick, Mo’s closest and most dependable friend. Likewise, Tobe Nwigwe is quite clever. Nick won’t leave his friend’s side, even though he has made a life for himself after a tumultuous past with Mo. Alongside Dwayne “the Rock,” Amer will also be seen in DC’s upcoming superhero movie Black Adam. On August 24, Mo will be accessible on Netflix.
