The loss of Morgan Yoney left a vacuum in her family’s hearts. Everyone close to her is thinking about this difficult time.

Morgan was born with cystic fibrosis, a genetic disease that primarily affects the digestive system and lungs and frequently calls for organ donations.

She had previously received a liver and lung transplant when she was 15 years old, but three years later she experienced lung rejection.

Morgan received her second double-lung transplant at UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh after more than two years of searching for a lung donor.

Her kidneys were also impacted by her declining health, which led to her admittance to the intensive care unit.

Tammy had anticipated that Morgan would have a long and happy life following the transplant, but things did not turn out as she had imagined.

On Thursday night, she would be put on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation so that Morgan’s heart and lungs could have some rest.
