The Character of Nagi Amano
Nagi is a self-assured young man who is popular with girls his age and who has the appearance of being somewhat of a tomboy. Hodaka Morishima refers to him as “sempai” because of his maturity and understanding of girls, which belie his young age. He demonstrates compassion and self-awareness by wanting to see his sister lead a typical adolescent life because she provides for him so much.
Nagi is a young lad with silky hair that extends below his ears and is chin-length. He resembles his sister quite a bit in that they both have blue eyes and black hair with a dark blue tint, albeit Nagi’s eyes are a different shade of blue. Three years later, he still looks much the same, the only real difference being that he’s grown taller.
History
Megumi Amano gave birth to Nagi in 2011 in Tokyo, Japan. His father’s identity is unknown, but it is most likely that he passed away or divorced Megumi before the events of 2020. Hina provided financial support for Nagi after his mother passed away from a deadly disease, leaving the two of them to live alone.
In the year 2021 Nagi, Ayane, and Kana are noticed on the bus during Hodaka’s first few days in Tokyo. Hodaka thinks to himself as he waves one girl off to visit another, “Nagi is a player.”
Nagi resurfaces when Hina and Hodaka arrange a meeting in Hina’s house. He overhears the two talking about the Sunshine Girl’s job and thinks it’s strange as he goes to the refrigerator. Inspired by Sunshine Girl’s suggestion, Hodaka suggests that they launch a business together; Hina could offer her enigmatic talent to those seeking clean skies for special occasions.
After Hodaka convinces Nagi to join them, their business endeavor is a great success. They serve a wide range of customers, from kindergarteners to powerful businesspeople.
At Fumi Tachibana’s home, Hina, Nagi, and Hodaka clear the skies so that she can start a fire for her deceased husband.
Hodaka looks online for the ideal present to give Hina while Nagi scores in the team’s soccer match. Hodaka tells Nagi he has no idea what to gift Hina because Natsumi and the Internet have been worthless after Nagi finishes his game and sits with him. He flushes violently and flatly denies being in love with Hina when Nagi asks him if he is. Hodaka and Nagi talk about Hina as Nagi gives him love advice.
While Hina and Hodaka wait and observe, Keisuke Suga and his daughter Moka Suga play with Nagi in the park. After some time, it starts to get dark and rain once more, so they decide to part ways, with Nagi going to a restaurant with the Sugas so that Hodaka can spend time with Hina alone.
Nagi chooses to run with Hina and Hodaka when a police officer shows up at the Amano home and threatens to arrest them, but the weather gets even worse when it starts to snow. The three are caught on the streets, and when Hodaka tries to run away, he is caught by two policemen. However, Hina saves him by distracting the authorities by praying that lightning will strike nearby, saving him from being caught. The group is now free to escape and find lodging.
After taking a bath, eating a fast supper, and participating in some karaoke, they spend the night at the hotel, and Nagi nods off right away. When he wakes up, Hina has left her room, it’s sunny outside, and the police have arrived at the hotel. Hodaka and Nagi are taken into custody.
Kana and Ayane are invited to Nagi’s room in the building he created. As planned, Kana instructs the employee to keep an eye on them near the restroom so Nagi and Ayane can change clothes while the officer is gone.
Then, like Ayane, Nagi leaves the building by running to the tower where Hodaka had gone to look for Hina. Nagi rushes Yasui when he tries to stop Hodaka, enabling Hodaka to pass while screaming at him to save Hina. After Hodaka successfully returns his sister, Nagi observes from a police cruiser as the rain starts to pour once more.
