Sam Smith, Adele, and Sam Fender are some of the previous honorees. According to Cat, 22, “a nomination was a big item on my bucket list for me this year.”
Adolescent, the debut EP by the South London musician, reached number 11 on the singer-songwriter charts in just one day after its release in 2016.
Her 2020 TikTok viral smash Go became her first platinum-selling single and peaked at number two on the Official Singles Chart this year.

female R&B group Renee, Jorja, and Stella, all 20 years old, make up the group Flo.
They gained admirers like SZA and Missy Elliot thanks to their debut song, Cardboard Box, which launched them into the spotlight earlier this year.
This summer’s debut EP, The Lead, enjoyed a similar level of critical acclaim and amassed over 70 million global streams.
The group claimed they were all inspired by the girl groups and strong female performers who had played on that stage because they “all grew up watching the Brits with our moms.”
“Girl groups are resurfacing, and we want to open up more opportunities for artists to fulfill their potential. We hope that Flo receives many more British nominations in the future.”
Nia Archives, a Leeds native, developed her love of music through relationships in her small group of like-minded raver friends.
At age 16, she started teaching herself production and created her kind of sentimental, low-fi jungle for “introverted extroverts.”
Last August, Nia recorded her debut EP, Headz Gone West, in the wee hours of the morning in her small bedroom studio.
She added,
“Words won’t adequately express how I feel about being nominated for the Brits Rising Star.”
I honestly never believed that could happen to someone like me growing up and witnessing it on TV, she added.
On December 8, the Brits Rising Star contest winner will be revealed.
