He spent three years as a specialist with the think tank after graduating, doing research on legal system reform topics.
In 2019, the Minister joined Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s campaign team as a contender for president. Zelenskyy joined the Ukrainian parliament after being elected president.
He became leader of the parliamentary committee on law enforcement as soon as he was elected to the legislature.

Six months before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in July 2021, Denys was named interior minister.
As interior minister, Denys was in responsibility of keeping the Ukrainian people informed of casualties from Russian strikes via the Ukrainian Police and emergency services.
Viewers will have access to more specific information later, but according to the RBK-Ukraine news agency, deputy Ukrainian presidential officer Kyrylo Tymoshenko was notified on the helicopter traveling to one of the war’s hot spots with Russia.
Andriy Kostin, the general prosecutor of Ukraine, said on Telegram that the Ukrainian Security Service is conducting the inquiry, according to sources.
Videos of the collision that were posted on social media vividly depicted a flaming structure, screaming victims, and corpses laying in a courtyard covered in foil blankets.
