In the city of Birmingham, there is now open an exhibition that features pieces selected both by the British artist Grayson Perry and by guest celebrities.
The Midlands Arts Centre now has on display pieces of artwork that were produced by members of the general public during the third season of the critically acclaimed television series Grayson’s Art Club (MAC).
The performer referred to the location as “wonderful” and stated that they “always have a great time in this city,” adding that they “think it may be the nicest spot in the UK.”
Grayson Perry stated that Birmingham had never before had such a “strong identity in the national mind” and that the city “was at risk of becoming trendy.”
During the course of the program, which began with a lockdown, he and his wife urged viewers to send in original works of art that they had crafted themselves.
According to Philippa Perry,
“Every piece of art has a narrative behind it, and I think that’s what makes it really emotional.”
Comedian Joe Lycett’s work, in addition to those of other well-known individuals, is featured.
Hannah Middleton, who resides in Birmingham, brought in her drawings of famous people, and those drawings will be included in the show.
Since infancy, she has struggled with her development, and she says that doing art helps her cope with her anxiousness.
Every time I sit down to sketch, regardless of how challenging the day has been so far, it never fails to brighten my mood.
