Filipino comedian and director Phillip Lazaro passed away on July 11 at the age of 51. The local news outlet GMA News Online first reported on Lazaro’s passing; the information was then confirmed by Lazaro’s nephew Chico Lazaro Alinell.

The day before Lazaro passed away, the nephew went to his residence and saw that the late-middle-aged comic was having problems breathing. Lazaro’s death was reportedly caused by several organ failures, according to some reports.

Organ failure’s basic etiology, though, is not yet understood. Additionally, according to GMA News Online, Lazaro’s family intends to soon host a memorial service in his honor and release more details about his passing.

A Filipino comedian named Phillip Lazaro (Felicisimo Saavedra Lazaro) went on to work as a director and actor. He is well recognized for his work on projects like Prima Donnas and the Bawal na game show. The Manila Times reported that the deceased 51-year-old performed stand-up comedy at The Library Comedy Bar & Restaurant in Manila.

Lazaro started his acting career in 1995, according to his IMDb website, when he had a single, brief appearance in the regional TV show Villa Quintana. The seasoned comic performed comparable roles in Filipino TV series from the middle of the 1990s to the beginning of the 2000s.

In 2009, he resumed playing roles after a nearly ten-year layoff. In 2016, he played PR in more than 50 episodes of That’s My Amboy. He played Phillip in five episodes of Nagbabagang Luha in 2021, which was his most recent appearance. Throughout his 25-year career, Lazaro has appeared in around 30 projects.

Throughout his career, Lazaro has also directed several productions. 63 episodes of the Filipino game show Bawal ang game show from TV5 is included in this.

He reportedly directed a few episodes of the show in the years 2020 and 2021. In addition, he oversaw the direction of four episodes of Dear Uge. The TV movie 3/3 was directed by Phillip Lazaro in 2019. Lazaro, meantime, served as a second-unit director on films including Widows’ Web from 2022 and Nagbabagang Luha.
