The girl was dancing with her friends when a truck driver who was traveling at a “low rate of speed” lost control of his vehicle and hit her. On Saturday, police in Raleigh confirmed it to ABC11.
The vehicle was pulling a float for the festivities, according to the news source, when the child was hit. Tragically, ABC11 reports that emergency personnel “were unable to save her life.”

Warrants in the case state that the driver accused of killing a dancer in the Raleigh Christmas Parade on Saturday was previously assigned to “driver improvement” and told police he worked on the safety features of vehicles.
According to police, Landen Christopher Glass, 20, of Goode, Virginia, who was driving the pickup truck transporting the parade float, hit and killed the victim of the procession on Saturday morning.
The girl who passed away during the Christmas parade left Raleigh Dance Company “devastated,” and “little ones” saw the tragedy.
Near the junction of Boylan Avenue and Hillsborough Street, where the 11-year-old girl was slain, many of children saw the horrible event. Later, the procession was postponed by officials.
The pickup vehicle in question was impounded. According to the authorities, Glass helped the police after the incident and was questioned by them.

Records show that in 2021, Glass was issued tickets in Virginia for driving too fast, using defective equipment, and failing to do a vehicle inspection. He was “assigned to driving improvement” in May 2021, according to a warrant.

Warrants state that without at least one brake that was maintained in top functioning condition, there was not enough equipment to stop the automobile or the brakes on Saturday, and the truck’s movement was not adequately controlled by the brakes.
According to the search warrant, Glass, who lives with his parents, is a safety system technician for W & M Sales and Service. The company looks to be an advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) calibration and automotive technology company.
The Glass was charged with operating a vehicle while inebriated, driving erratically, utilizing the incorrect equipment, and travelling dangerously. He was also accused of carrying a Canik 9mm firearm in a procession, according to the warrant.
The arrest warrants state that Glass received a $4,000 secured bail. For CC & Co. Dance Complex, the dead dancer performed.
The dance group asked the public in a statement posted on Saturday to “refrain from passing judgment on what occurred until we know more and the authorities have completed their investigation.”
Glass was freed from the Wake County Jail early on Sunday morning.
