Ricky was unable to race in the 2024 Motocross season because of medical issues. He explained his absence on Instagram, saying he had a blockage in his small intestine that required a night in the hospital. In a video update to his fans, he explained that the stomach issue was caused by “scar tissue from the past.”
Fortunately, the obstruction was cleared out after consultation with medical authorities, and surgery was avoided. Ricky, on the other hand, was unable to watch TV the next night due to the required rest time. The ever-graceful former racer told fans that his broadcast colleagues would handle the show just well without him, calling them “some of the best in the business.”
“To put it mildly, I’m disappointed. I’ll miss everyone, but I’m confident that my Broadcast colleagues will have a great night without me. Normally, you’d have to wheel me into the booth or wherever I work, but in this case, I have to do what’s best for me and my teammates.”
Along with that, he shared another video of himself receiving medical attention before the surgery. To say the least, the film was unpleasant to see, with Ricky reeling and panicking in pain. Ricky joked that the video wasn’t very nice, but he nonetheless posted it for the viewers’ enjoyment.
The Instagram post was inundated with comments from admirers and well-wishers wishing him well. Overall, Ricky is expected to return to the television booth soon, doing what he enjoys most: commentating on races.
