The parents of Riley Fox have drawn the attention of the public. Riley Fox, a 3-year-old from Wilmington, Illinois, passed away on June 6, 2004.
Parolee Scott Eby confessed to the crime and was found guilty after Riley’s father was first accused and then cleared due to DNA evidence.
The inquiry had almost reached a dead stop until Warren and her team gave it fresh life. She said that the agent was determined to discover Riley’s murderer and had been eager to look into the case for some time.

Riley Fox was raised by her mother, Melissa Fox Hodgen, and her father, Kevin Fox. On June 6, 2004, Riley’s abduction night, Kevin Fox, Riley’s father, had taken his kids from their grandmother’s house at approximately one in the morning.
The father of the girl, Kevin Fox, was first charged after making a coerced confession. He spent eight months behind bars until his release on the basis of DNA evidence that suggested another person was the real culprit.
The children’s beds lacked clean sheets and blankets, so he put Riley on the sofa and Tyler, Riley’s elder brother, on the living room chair.
He watched TV in his room before turning in for the night at 2:30. The next morning, Tyler woke him up and told him Riley was gone. After asking around and taking a look around, he contacted 911.
Later that day, Riley was found dead in Wilmington’s public park, the Forsythe Woods County Forest Preserve. Before being discovered face down in a stream, she had endured sexual abuse, been chained, and been gagged.
Kevin Fox, Riley’s father, passed away
Kevin Fox, a former Wilmington resident who was falsely arrested by the Will County Sheriff’s Department in 2004 for the killing of his daughter Riley, then 3 years old, passed away on Monday in a head-on accident in Arkansas. Fox stood 46 years of age.
Fox’s wrongful conviction lawyer Kathleen Zellner sent a letter to the editor of the Joliet Patch on Tuesday, calling Kevin one of her bravest clients ever.
To his children, he will always be remembered as the best father a person could have been. It is unfortunate that he died at such a young age.
Zellner also shared the terrible news via her Twitter account. She told Patch that Fox was living in Arkansas with his new wife and their two little girls, who were one and two years old.
According to a news source from Arkansas, the Arkansas State Police were summoned to a head-on incident on March 21, 2023, at around 4 p.m., in which both drivers died.
The Ford Focus belonged to a 47-year-old man from Arkansas, and Fox’s GMC Sierra was traveling north on State Highway 7.
As the Ford Focus got into Fox’s lane, it collided with his GMC Sierra. The two accident victims were locals of Centerville, Arkansas. Kevin Fox was first charged in June 2004 with his daughter’s murder.
During questioning by Will County police, Fox admitted to the crime; however, he was subsequently exonerated by DNA evidence, as lawyer Zellner requested that “inconclusive” saliva samples be examined in a private laboratory.
