Robert Gordon

The well-known musician Robert Gordon passed away on October 18 at the age of 75. Vice President of Cleopatra Records Matt Green stated:

“The sympathies of Cleopatra Records are extended to his family and friends. We enjoyed working with Robert and will miss his powerful baritone voice and undying dedication to his music.”

Gordon’s cause of death was not disclosed; however, speculations indicate that he had acute myeloid leukemia, and his family established a GoFundMe page to cover the cost of his treatment.

Robert Gordon’s final album, Hellafied, will be released in November 2022

Robert Gordon, who was born on March 29, 1947, was profoundly impacted at the age of nine by Elvis Presley’s song Heartbreak Hotel.

In addition to Gene Vincent, Jack Scott, Billy Lee Ridley, and other prominent rock ‘n’ roll performers, he admired Gene Vincent, Jack Scott, and Billy Lee Ridley.

In 1964, at the age of 17, Gordon made his musical debut as the vocalist for the group Confidential. He was affiliated with performers such as James Brown and Otis Redding, who performed at the Howard Theatre in Washington, D.C.

During the riots and antiwar protests in Washington, D.C. in the late 1960s, he served in the National Guard.

Robert relocated to New York City in 1970 and joined the punk band Tuff Darts. The band recorded three songs for the compilation CD Live at CBGB.

Richard Gottehrer encountered him as he was rehearsing with Tuff Darts, and they discussed creating a rock & roll CD. Gordon suggested collaborating with guitarist Link Wray, and Wray consented, resulting in the 1977 release of Robert Gordon and Link Wray.

When Elvis Presley died in 1977, the record became popular, and Private Stock Label attempted to advertise Gordon as Presley’s successor.

Gordon released another album in 1978 titled Fresh Fish Special and was signed to RCA Records the following year.

The following year, Gordon released the album Rock Billy Boogie, and in 1980, he released Bad Boy. Are You Going Be the One, his final album with the company, was released in 1981.

In the early 1980s, Robert Gordon toured with Danny Gatton, and in the 1990s, he performed in various countries with Chris Spedding. He also toured with Spedding in 2005, with concert highlights released on their own label.

For the 30th anniversary of Elvis’ death, they released an album with the Jordanaires that featured 15 of his songs. Also, Robert performed on tour with the band Marco DiMaggio, Slim Jim Phantom, and Glen Matlock.

His next album, I’m Coming Home, was released in June 2014. He starred in the 1981 motorcycle outlaw picture The Loveless.

He subsequently appeared frequently on television, notably in the popular comedy program SCTV. Hellafied, his most recent album, is scheduled for release on November 25.

“This one hurts,” said Robert Gordon’s internet users.

In recent years, Robert Gordon has become well-known for his hit albums and songs. As news of his passing spread, Twitter was flooded with condolences:

Gordon never discussed his personal life, so it is unknown if he was married or in a relationship. His previous album, Hellafied, featured collaborations with Chris Spedding, Albert Bouchard, and Blue Oyster Cult.
