Over the years, he ascended the ranks, ultimately rising to the position of deputy head of the regional command centers in Pebble Hills and Central.

Greg Allen, the chief of police of El Paso, died away on January 17, 2023. On Tuesday afternoon, the mayor of El Paso shared the tragic news on Twitter.

They said that the news of the passing of veteran Police Chief Greg Allen grieved the community of El Paso.

Allen’s demise’s cause of death is unknown. However, as noted by KTSM, Greg had been recuperating following a medical procedure at the hospital.

Following the catastrophe, memorials have flooded the media. The El Paso Fire Department sent a moving statement.

The El Paso Fire Department tweeted, “Our hearts and prayers are with Chief Allen’s loved ones and our brothers and sisters in the El Paso Police Department.”

They also expressed gratitude to the late individual for his commitment to the neighborhood, knowledge, and companionship. “May you rest in peace, Sir,” they said.

Tommy Gonzalez, the municipal manager, also expressed his sorrow and that it was painful for them.

Details of Greg Allen’s Career

Early in the 1950s was when Greg Allen was born. Over the course of his 40 years with the agency, he had a variety of jobs (patrol officers, sergeant, lieutenant, deputy chief, etc.).

He spent numerous years as a field officer and supervisor in the SWAT and Tactical Section, respectively. He was the first and only SWAT Unit supervisor who worked full-time.

In 1975, Allen graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Texas at El Paso.

In 1995, he was given honorary admission to the El Paso Boxing and Martial Arts Hall of Fame.

From 2010 through 2013, El Paso was recognized as “The Safest Large City” in the US for a consecutive four years.

Not all of Greg’s decisions were without criticism. In 2016, he called Black Lives Matter a “radical hate group” in his remarks.
