Evidence presented at a coronial inquest conducted in 2012 under the supervision of the deputy state coroner, Magistrate P. A. MacMahon, revealed that the adolescent had been planning for her 19th birthday party and had hitched to Bellingen on the day of her disappearance.
Rose’s mother reported her missing two days after she missed an appointment, despite the fact that Rose frequently stayed with friends in Bellingen.
When she was abducted, Rose was described as being of Caucasian look, with an olive complexion, standing between 160 and 165 cm tall, sporting hazel eyes, and sporting short, black hair styled in a mohawk.
According to Magistrate MacMahon, Rose Howell was last seen in 2012 when William Robb noticed her going down Perrys Road in Repton. Robb was on his route to watch his daughter perform at a dance recital.
