Videos showing Grantham confessing to the crime and displaying his mother’s corpse were aired for the court.
Following the homicide, he readied himself to execute an unsettling scheme to assassinate Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. In addition, Ryan loaded up his car with weapons, Molotov cocktails, and other provisions before heading east in the direction of Ottawa.

According to psychiatric evaluations cited in court, Ryan Grantham had been experiencing serious depression. His aggressive impulses and self-destructive thoughts preceding the murder have victimized him. According to the reports, Grantham thought that by killing his mother, he would protect her from seeing the horrors he planned to conduct. The Crown Prosecutor countered that since he was trying to shield his mother from his acts, this act was self-serving rather than altruistic. The prosecutor further underlined the betrayal of trust that the murder signified, pointing out that Barabara Waite adored her son and had no cause for concern.

Grantham received a life sentence in prison for second-degree murder in September 2022. Ryan was ordered by the courts to serve 14 years in prison before being eligible to seek parole. Grantham used a Go-Pro camera to film a video confession after killing his mother. He acknowledged shooting his mother in this video and claimed she would have known he had done it. He also disclosed a sinister scheme that included thoughts of carrying out mass killings at Simon Fraser University and the desire to damage Tudreau.
But rather than execute this plan, Grantham decided to give himself into the Vancouver police. I think this action prevented more deaths than it may have. Ryan Grantham was placed behind bars on April 1st, 2020. Chris Johnson, Grantham’s defense lawyer, disclosed his mental health conditions to the court throughout the trial. Ryan Grantham is still incarcerated as per the most recent news. Before the unfortunate incident, Ryan was regarded by fans as one of Hollywood’s best actors.
