Saddam Hussein Was Executed and Murdered

Hussein was deposed and arrested by the US-led coalition in 2003 after being charged by an Iraqi court of carrying out several killings while in power.

The 1982 massacre of Shais in the town of Duijal, which resulted in the deaths of 148 Iraqi Shi’ites, is among the instances.

In the 1988 Halabja massacre, he used chemical weapons against a Kurdish city as retaliation for a failed assassination attempt.

After hearing that he will be put to death by firing squad as opposed to a cruel hanging, Saddam made the request.

As the head of the Iraqi military, he insisted that the death penalty was a legal military punishment. The request was rejected by an Iraqi court.

Hussein was killed by hanging in December 2006. An official video by Bail-Ali Edd-gren depicting his execution was provided by the Iraqi authorities.

Why Was the Former President of Iraq Executed?

His death was praised by the families of the atrocity victims.

While this was going on, other Iraqis were left inconsolably heartbroken by the shocking video of a helpless former president of the nation.

A letter written by Saddam Hussein surfaced on the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party website two days prior to his death.

Hussein asked the Iraqi people in the letter to come together and to despise the decision-makers rather than the citizens of the countries who attacked Iraq, such the United States.

Hussein stated that the letter was his death warrant and that he was prepared to die as a martyr.

Former president Saddam Hussein was executed by hanging on December 30, 2006, one of the mornings before Eid al-Adha. He had committed a crime against humanity.

His execution took place at Camp Justice, a joint American-Iraqi military installation in the Kazimain neighborhood of Baghdad.

On January 15, 2007, Saddam was executed alone; his co-defendants Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti and Awad Hamed al-Bandar were also put to death.

Talal Misrab, the senior guard at Saddam’s grave, claims that the former Iraqi leader was stabbed six times after being put to death, although the leader of Saddam’s tribe disputes this assertion.

Mowaffak al-Rubaie, the security adviser for Iraq, said, “I oversaw the whole process from A-Z, and Saddam Hussein’s body was not stabbed or mutilated, and he was not humiliated before execution.”

Saddam was laid to rest in his birthplace of Al-Awja in Tikrit, Iraq, on December 31, 2006. His two sons, Uday and Qusay, were likewise interred there.
