After receiving countless cruel comments comparing her to Justin Bieber’s many girlfriends, Selena Gomez decided to stop wasting her time and hand over her Instagram account to someone person.
Selena Gomez is somewhat absent from social media. The star of Only Murders in the Building is one of the few celebrities who has been open about the fact that her social media platforms, including her Instagram account with over 378 million followers, are managed by a third party.
Selena, 30, indicates in an interview with Vanity Fair for its 29th Annual Hollywood Issue that her relationship with Justin Bieber was the cause for this social media handoff, but she does not exactly identify him.
Selena states,
“I never had the chance to attend a traditional high school.” “For a long time, the world was my high school, and I began to be flooded with unwanted knowledge.”
“I went through a difficult breakup, and I didn’t want to read any [feedback]—not necessarily about the relationship, but perceptions of me vs [someone else],” she explains.
“There would be thousands of incredibly kind remarks, but the only one that comes to me is the negative one. I don’t care if others call me ugly or stupid; I’m indifferent. However, these people are specific. They compose sentences that are so detailed and harsh. I would continuously cry. I constantly felt anxious… I could no longer continue. “It was a complete waste of my time.”
Justin, 28, and Selena began dating formally in 2011, with the Vanity Fair Oscar Party serving as their Senior Prom. Their romance appeared to end in 2014, despite the fact that they stayed in each other’s circle for years.
Selena had a relationship with Zedd and dated The Weeknd. Justin had relationships with other women, including Sofia Richie. In 2017, he and Selena appeared to have reconciled, and they spent time together on many occasions.
But in 2018, they separated irrevocably. In September 2018, Justin wedded Hailey Baldwin. In 2019, Selena released the song “Lose You to Love Me,” which marked the end of their relationship.
Selena had had it with being compared to Justin’s girlfriends. Since handing up control of her Twitter and Instagram profiles to her staff, she has been living her best life.
She did disclose to Vanity Fair that she has TikTok on her phone since the platform’s atmosphere is “a little less antagonistic” than others (“I’m sort of a nerd. I adore making humorous videos. I’ll obtain recipes, makeup, and hairstyle suggestions.”)
She does not criticize social media in general. Selena adds,
“There are amazing aspects of social media, such as connecting with followers, seeing how happy and pleased they are, and reading their tales.”
“However, that is typically filtered through [for me today]. I established a system. Everything I accomplish is sent to my helper, who then posts it. Regarding feedback, my staff will compile a few encouraging statements.”
Although Selena dislikes the “detailed” paragraphs of hate from her followers, she and Hailey have a great deal of love and respect for one another.
In a 2022 episode of Call Her Daddy, Hailey said that she and Selena have communicated since she married Justin.
Mrs. Bieber stated,
“That’s fine if everyone on our side knows what happened, we’re okay, and we can walk away with clarity and dignity.”
“That gave me a great deal of peace. We are aware of what transpired. What it is, it is. You will never be able to rectify every tale.”
