Wong Hoo founded Creative Technology and served as its CEO, chairman, and founder. Products for PCs and

He was also the runner-up for Fortune Magazine’s 2001 Asia’s Businessman of the Year award. At the age of 45, Wong became the youngest billionaire in Singapore.
In 1992 and 1997, he became the first person to be named Singapore’s Businessman of the Year twice. In 2002, he was named “Person of the Year” by the Singapore Computer Society for his contributions to the IT industry.

Karen Ngui, Sim Wong Hoo’s wife, and their daughter are currently grieving the loss of their father.
The Company’s board of directors disclosed Sim’s death to the Singapore Exchange on Thursday, saying only that he “passed away peacefully.” He was 67.

He believed that his single status was a key factor in his ability to take more chances and ultimately become very successful. But eventually, he settled down with a lovely wife and children.

The death of Sim Wong on January 4, 2023, at the age of 67 has devastated the whole Hoo family.
Sim attended Bukit Panjang Government High School after growing up in a household of Zhao’an Hokkien in Singapore.
In 1975, he graduated from what is now known as the Electrical and Electronic Engineering program at Ngee Ann Polytechnic (then known as Ngee Ann Technical College).
The business reported that he had tragically left behind his loved ones on January 4. A filing with the Singapore Exchange on Thursday read, “The Board expresses its profound sadness over the passing of Wong Hoo and offers its condolences to his family.”
After Sim’s passing, Yahoo reports that independent non-executive directors Lee Kheng Nam and Ng Kai Wa took over as interim chair and vice chair of the Creative board.
In addition, the board has appointed Song Siow Hui, president of the Company’s Creative Labs Business Unit, to serve as interim chief executive officer.
Examining the Life and Work of Sim Wong Hoo
After finishing his education, Sim immediately entered the workforce. Early in his career, he did private-sector engineering work.
After he served his mandatory National Service, Sim spent a year working as an engineer in the private sector.
When Sim founded Creative in 1981, he served as its first chairman and chief executive officer.
He was the former chair of the Private Sector Committee for Singapore’s Technopreneurship 21 and a well-known businessman there.
Similarly, Wong Hoo described the traditional Singaporean mentality of waiting for authorization from higher authorities before moving by coining the term “No U-turn syndrome” in his 1999 book Chaotic Thoughts From the Old Millennium.
