I located an old-school jeweler in Echo Park who works out of his basement and asked him to show me how to produce a lost wax casting.
I carved the ring in wax before casting it in white gold.
“I had my father create me a wooden ring box,” Rider explained.
He also mentioned that he learned it from his father. “My father made my mother’s engagement ring, therefore I was following in his footsteps,” he explained.
The pair married in 2013 and have gone from newlyweds to parents in less than a decade. Indigo Barreto Strong is their son.
