Football player Tony Siragusa also referred to as Anthony Siragusa Sr., passed away on June 22, 2022, at the age of 55. In the venerable crime drama The Sopranos, Siragusa is best known for playing Frankie Cortese. The broadcast company for Siragusa, Jim Ornstein, issued the following statement:

“Today is just a really bad day.” Tony was family to them, not simply a client. “My thoughts are with Tony’s family.”

Tony Siragusa excelled as both a football player and an actor. He made his name after participating in four episodes of The Sopranos, a legendary criminal drama. He played the character of Frankie Cortese, Tony Soprano’s driver, and bodyguard. In one episode titled Irregular Around the Margins, Cortese was the one who restrained Christopher when he pointed a gun at Tony in the Bing.

Tony Siragusa, a defensive lineman, was signed by the Indianapolis Colts. He played in 13 games as a rookie, starting six of them, recording one sack, 36 total tackles, and one fumble recovery. He played a significant role on the Colts team that lost the 1995 AFC Championship game.

When manager Ted Marchibroda offered him a contract with no raises or extensions, he left the team. Siragusa was a part of the Baltimore Ravens defense in 2000, which finished the 16-game season with the fewest points surrendered overall in NFL history. After hurting Oakland Raiders quarterback Rich Gannon during the 2000 AFC championship game, he was later fined $10,000.

In Super Bowl XXXV, he led the Ravens to their first championship by helping them overcome the New York Giants. He served as a sideline reporter and NFL game analyst for Fox after his retirement at the conclusion of the 2001 season.

In 2002, he made appearances in The Sopranos and the drama film 25th Hour. In addition, he collaborated with Michael Romanelli to create the restaurant chain Tiffs.
