The legendary Twin Kirby Puckett and his ex-wife Tonya Puckett-Miller have both passed away. She was married to Kirby Puckett from 1986 to 2006.

Tonya Puckett-Miller, the former spouse of Minnesota Twins Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett, passed away at the age of 58. The family of Tonya Puckett Miller has revealed her obituary.

She died on Friday, September 15, according to the funeral home’s abridged obituary page. Her demise has no known cause.

Tonya married Kirby in 1986, and they had two children while he was a player for the Twins. In 2002, they separated.

In 2013, she remarried Rev. Dr. Melvin Miller. Tonya was referred to as the First Lady at the Progressive Baptist Church in St. Paul, where Miller serves as senior pastor.

According to her spouse, the Reverend Dr. Melvin Miller of St. Paul’s Progressive Baptist Church, she was diagnosed with glioblastoma in January 2022 and died on Friday.

Miller remarked, “She was an amazing mother and a great community leader.” She was devoted to the mission of the church and her faith in Jesus Christ.

Tonya Hudson was born on May 12, 1965, in St. Paul to Margaret Hudson, a native of Edina who is still alive.

She was raised in Brooklyn Park and north Minneapolis. After marrying in 1986, she and Puckett divorced in 2002 due to his legal issues.

After their divorce, Puckett-Miller focused on philanthropy, raising millions of dollars for organizations such as Children’s Heartlink and the Puckett Scholars program, which provides financial assistance to students of color enrolled at the University of Minnesota.

She provided care for troubled children in her own home through the Christian organization Safe Families.

She also joined the Bible Study Fellowship, where she was informed by one of the organizers that they had asked God to provide her with a spouse.

Miller asserts that his late wife told a mutual friend, “I’m completely disinterested. I would only marry if a suitor showed up at my door.

She also leaves behind her in-laws, Eunice and Earl Miller, and stepchildren Martin Miller, Mariah Miller, Mikah Miller, and Morgan Carrillo.

In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren, Brendan Draper, Nairobi Nelson, Bailey O’Brien, Savannah Puckett, and Kirby Puckett III.

On March 6, 2006, in Phoenix, Kirby Puckett passed away due to a severe stroke.

On Thursday at noon, a memorial service will be held at the Progressive Baptist Church, 1505 Burns Avenue, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m.
