Salvatore Cutugno is born in the northern Tuscan city of Fosdinovo on July 7, 1943. He began his career as a percussionist before making the transition to composition at the start of the 1970s.
Later, he composed hits for Joe Dassin, Mireille Mathieu, Dalida, Johnny Halliday, Michel Sardou, Claude Francois, and Gigliola Cinquetti, among others.
His compositions were performed by the band Albatross, who self-released their debut album in 1976.

Again, Cutugno’s “Gli Amori” placed second in the Eurovision Song Contest, but “Together 1992,” a song commemorating Europe’s impending accession to the EEC, placed first.
