Tour Of Morgan Wallen Has Been Postponed Owing To A Vocal Cord Injury

Morgan Wallen

Morgan Wallen posted a video statement on his Instagram account on Tuesday, explaining that he must postpone his next six weeks of tour dates, as well as his scheduled appearance on the Academy of Country Music Awards telecast in just two days because physicians have ordered him to undergo vocal rest.

Wallen had recently canceled some shows but returned to the road this past weekend for three performances, which he described as disastrous and prompted a trip to the doctor.

The dates will be rescheduled, the country icon announced in the video. After ten days of vocal rest, my doctors at the Vanderbilt Voice Center gave me some terrible news yesterday, said Wallen.

Last weekend, I performed three performances in Florida, and by the third one, I felt awful. Yesterday, I went in for a scope and was informed that I re-injured my vocal cords and had vocal fold trauma. Their recommendation is that I rest my voice for six weeks. So that is what I shall do.”

Wallen stated that he had been instructed not to speak at all for the time being, but was given permission to make a brief announcement to admirers.

He stated that the vocal injury was not his only current ailment.

“During our trip to Australia, I also tore my lat. I’ve been working on it in private, but this time off will also help me rectify the situation…

“They told me that if I do this correctly, I will return to 100 percent. In addition, they warned that if I do not heed and continue to sing, I will permanently damage my voice. For the longevity of my career, I had no alternative but to make this decision. I detest it. However, I adore you all and value the constant support you offer me.

We are in the process of rescheduling all dates within this time frame. We’re almost finished, but a few items are still outstanding; I’ll keep you informed. I won’t be able to attend these festivals during this time period, but we will rectify this the following year.”

Wallen stated that he would not be participating in the ACM Awards or the preceding Lifting Lives charity event, but urged fans to still attend. “It’s for a worthy cause,” he declared.

Morgan Wallen concluded his two-minute speech by saying,

“I’ll see you shortly, and I’ll return stronger than ever. God bless you.”

Prior to the April 23 performance in Oxford, Mississippi, Wallen had previously canceled four performances.

According to Wallen’s six-week prognosis, he will miss upcoming arena and stadium performances in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Chicago, among other cities.

New dates will be announced “imminently,” according to an announcement from Wallen’s publicist.

At that time, anyone holding tickets will have a 30-day refund window, open at the point of purchase, if they cannot or do not wish to attend the rescheduled show. According to the statement, Wallen is rescheduling any missing festival appearances for 2024.

The performer is nominated for entertainer of the year at Thursday’s ACM Awards.
