According to the paper, Solages stated that “(this) cat will never come back,” and that “believe me, brother, we are working on our ultimate decision.”

Then, in June, some 20 former Colombian troops were allegedly recruited to aid in the arrest of the president and to defend Sanon, who saw himself as Haiti’s new leader. Rivera, according to the records, was in command of that group.

The president was shot 12 times, and he suffered numerous gunshot wounds to his head and chest. His left eye had been gouged out, and bones in his arm and foot had been fractured, according to one of the judges overseeing the investigation.

He died on the scene and was discovered with his clothes soaked in blood on the floor. The first lady, Martine Mose, was also shot but survived.
