Tyrod Taylor’s bio
Tyrod Taylor (Tyrod Di’allo Taylor) was born to Rodney and Trina Taylor in Hampton, Virginia, on August 3, 1989. When he was old enough, he attended Hampton High School in Hampton, Virginia, where he excelled in three sports: track and field, basketball, and soccer. He grew up normally in the neighborhood.

- As a senior, he assisted Virginia Tech in winning the 2009 and 2011 Orange Bowls while playing NCAA football for the Hokies. - Taylor participated in his first collegiate football game on September 8, 2007, against the LSU Tigers. In the contest, Taylor ran for 44 yards on nine attempts, scoring his first collegiate touchdown, and completed 7 of his 18 passes for 62 yards. Following that game, head coach Frank Beamer decided to start Tyrod. In his first college start against Ohio, Tyrod completed passes for 287 yards and a rushing touchdown.
- When the 2008 season started, Taylor was supposed to redshirt. But following Virginia Tech’s loss against East Carolina University, his redshirt was taken off because the Hokies needed more offense. Taylor ran for 112 yards and a touchdown against Furman in his second game of the year, which was also his debut. He made his sophomore debut against Georgia Tech the following week.
- In the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens selected Taylor with the 180th overall pick. That year, he was selected as the 11th quarterback. They took the place of Cam Newton, the Panthers’ quarterback, and Ryan Kalil, the Panthers’ center, who was competing in Super Bowl 50. At the Pro Bowl, Taylor completed 8 of his 14 passes for 120 yards and a touchdown but also threw three interceptions.
- On March 9, 2018, the Bills dealt Taylor to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a third-round draft pick. The arrangement was made official on March 14, the first day of the NFL season, five days later.
- On March 13, 2019, Taylor signed a two-year, $11 million contract with the Los Angeles Chargers, reestablishing his relationship with former offensive coordinator and former interim head coach Anthony Lynn. In Week 14’s 45-10 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Taylor took over for Philip Rivers and connected with Virgil Green on a touchdown pass of 14 yards.
