Andrew Zimmern, an American chef and television personality, will serve as the series adjudicator for the June 15 premiere of Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend on Netflix. Nilou Motamed, a James Beard Foundation Restaurant and Chef Awards panelist, will join the notable figure in the epic culinary battle Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend.

As of March 2023, Andrew Zimmern has amassed a net worth of $14 million through his work as co-creator, host, and consulting producer of the Travel Channel’s hit television programs Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern, Andrew Zimmern’s Bizarre World, and Bizarre Foods America, among many others.

Supposedly, he earned $35,000 per episode of Bizarre Foods. Zimmern, who was reared in a Jewish household, began formal culinary training at age 14.

After graduating from Vassar College, he worked as an executive chef or general manager at the finest restaurants in New York City.

He began his career as a chef de cuisine at Cafe Un Deux Trois in the Foshay Tower in Minneapolis. After four and a half years of service, he resigned in 1997.

His café cuisine was lauded by the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Minnesota Monthly, and Mpls.St.Paul Magazine. After quitting the eatery, he moved on to other eateries and food-related activities.

He joined Food Works, Inc., a company that produced food-related content, in 1997. In addition, it “manages collaborations such as public appearances, sponsorships, and charitable initiatives.”

In 2012, Zimmern launched his food truck, AZ Canteen, with the following items on the menu:

“From dulce de leche shaved ice from Nicaragua to Cabrito sausage grinders made with an all-natural ruminant blend by Pat LaFrieda Meat Purveyors.”

The chef is also the author of a novel. The Bizarre Truth: Culinary Misadventures Around the Globe, Andrew Zimmern’s Bizarre World of Food: Brains, Bugs, and Blood Sausage, and Andrew Zimmern’s Field Guide to Exceptionally Bizarre, Wild are among his many works.

Zimmern also sells spice mixes and seasonings, including, among others, Moroccan Moon, Mexican Fiesta, and Mediterranean Magic. His merchandise is manufactured and distributed by Badia Spices. In November 2018, he founded Lucky Cricket in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.

In 2006, Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern premiered on the Travel Channel. The program aired 147 episodes and endured 13 seasons from 2006 to 2018, highlighting the cuisine of a particular country and how it is sourced, prepared, presented, and enjoyed.

Bizarre Foods America and Andrew Zimmern’s Bizarre World were spin-offs that were broadcast in 2009 and 2012, respectively. As a presenter, he has also presented Dining with Death, The Zimmern List, and What’s Eating America, among others.

In 2010, he received the James Beard Award for Outstanding Television Food Personality. He earned the award again in 2012, 2013, and 2017.

Now, he will be a juror on Iron Chef. Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend premieres on Netflix on June 15, showcasing Judge Zimmern and the chefs’ heated competition.
