Seven people were slain in a shooting that happened in Half Moon Bay on Monday. Chunli Zhao, a Half Moon Bay resident who is 67 years old, was identified as the offender and caught.
At 2:22 PM, according to the sheriff’s office, four persons were found dead at a nursery in the 12700 block of Cabrillo Highway. Another person was transported with possibly fatal injuries to Stanford Medical Center. The sheriff’s office reports that three additional victims were found dead in a nearby nursery immediately after that discovery.

The suspect was identified by the authorities as Zhao Chunli, 67, of Half Moon Bay.
According to the sheriff’s office, he was peacefully taken into custody at roughly 4:40 pm in the parking lot of the sheriff’s office substation in Half Moon. He had a semi-automatic rifle in his car. Zhao is said to have a husband and resides in Half Moon Bay, according to Corpus.
More than two hours after the shooting, he was found in the parking area of the Half Moon Substation. When a deputy noticed his maroon SUV in the substation’s parking lot, police were searching for it. Sheriff Christina Corpus of San Mateo County claims that investigators believe Chunli acted alone. There was no clear indication of the motive behind the gun spree.
On the outskirts of the city, two agricultural complexes were the scene of the shootings. Zhao is believed to have worked for one of the companies, according to Corpus. Dave Pine, president of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, referred to him as a “disgruntled worker.”
Authorities say they don’t know what provoked the shootings. Sheriff Christina Corpus, however, revealed that the suspect is believed to have worked at one of the nursery farm locations during a news conference on Thursday evening.

According to ABC7, the Holy Family Children’s Center was put on lockdown around 3:20 p.m. President Biden has received a briefing on the shootings, according to Karine Jean-Pierre, the press secretary for the White House.
He asked the federal police to support local authorities as needed. The President would be informed as soon as new information became available, according to Jean-Pierre.
Zhao’s car contained a weapon, according to the sheriff’s office. They stated that he is thought to have acted alone and that the neighborhood is no longer in danger. “This is a heartbreaking tragedy for this town and the many families affected by this heinous act of violence,” said Christina Corpus, sheriff of San Mateo County.
