Galfy served in the American Army from 1965 to 1970 as a major in the 24th Infantry Division, JAGC, according to his obituary. He earned both a law degree and a bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall.
He is survived by his brother James Galfy, his wife Diane, and many nieces and nephews. Galfy’s sister Marcella Galfy predeceased him.

The New Jersey township of Clark was rocked by the discovery of senior lawyer Joseph Galfy’s gruesome murder inside his house in May 2013.

The 73-year-old was found dead in a pool of blood on the floor of his main bedroom while just wearing his underpants and socks. Additionally, there were no indications of looting, disproving any proof of a break-in.

Because Kai’s phone was inaccessible and no one knew where he was, the New Jersey Police issued an official statement and an arrest warrant in his name and pleaded with the public to call them if they spotted him.

McGillvary will be freed from Trenton’s New Jersey State Prison in October 2061, according to NJ.com, where he is now incarcerated to complete his term.
McGillvary’s appeal to have his sentence overturned was most recently denied in August 2021. According to the medical examiner’s evidence, which was at the time quoted by the appeals court, Galfy’s injuries were caused by much more than merely an effort to stop a sexual approach, according to AP News.
