A distinguished military leader, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi is the Commander in Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the moment.

He attended the renowned Odesa Institute of Land Forces after graduating from the renowned Zviahel Machine Building Technical School in 1991, giving him a plethora of expertise.

During his distinguished career, he has occupied many leadership roles, such as Chief of Staff, First Deputy Commander, and Commander of the 24th and 51st Mechanized Brigades.

Furthermore, in 2014, he received his degree from the Ivan Cherniakhovskyi National Defense University of Ukraine.

Prior to taking over as Chief of Joint Operational Staff for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and First Deputy Commander for Joint Forces in 2018, Zaluzhnyi most recently held the positions of Chief of Staff and First Deputy Commander for Operational Command West.

In December 2019, he took on the role of Commander for Operational Command North.
