Oso Ighodaro’s parents, Dawn and Osaro Ighodaro, are educators. Dawn and Osaro have spent several years working in and around Phoenix, Arizona.
His father, Osaro, a former professional athlete, inspires the 6’11 forward from Marquette University. His father also has a degree, and his sister previously worked for Morgan Stanley. As a result, the child comes from a prosperous family. And Oso has not disappointed his family on the court.
Since he arrived at Marquette in 2020, Oso has been honored to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team every year. Oso, recognized as one of his school’s best players, is projected by Sports Illustrated to be a second-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Oso was recently featured in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel as a youth guide alongside freshman Al Amadou.

Dawn and Osaro Ighodaro, Oso Ighodaro’s parents, have remained anonymous. The couple has not given any media interviews. Osaro Ighodaro and his wife, Dawn Ighodaro, both work as teachers. Oso’s father, Osaro Ighodaro, received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Northern Arizona University in 1990 and 1992, respectively.
Osaro also played collegiate basketball at NAU before going pro in Belgium. Osaro later continued his studies and earned a PhD in Political Science from NAU. Osaro became the Associate Dean of Student Affairs at Scottsdale Community College after deciding that basketball was not for him.
He worked for Scottsdale for two years before transferring to Glendale Community College. In 2012, Osaro was named Vice President of Student Affairs at South Mountain Community College. He had been there for 11 years and only left in June of this year. Oso’s mother, Dawn Ighodaro, holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Health and Physical Education from West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
Dawn worked at Summit School of Ahwatukee as a Director of Admissions and Marketing and subsequently as an After School Administrator until 2021. Dawn spent 23 years at Summit School of Ahwatukee and also worked as an Education Specialist in and around Phoenix during that time.
Dawn now works at three different places, with a variety of duties. She works with Carlo Rockmore LLC as an Operations Consultant, Espanola Humane as a Development Assistant, and House of Shine as a Podcast Coordinator. Dawn, unlike her husband, uses social media but rarely posts on her Facebook page. Her most recent post features Oso with the Big East Championship trophy, which the team won in March.

Oso Ighodaro is not his parent’s only child; he also has an older sister, Osaso Ighodaro. Osaso, unlike her brother, was unaffected by her father’s success as a basketball player and chose a different route. Osaso received her bachelor’s degree from the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona.
In 2021, Osaso graduated with honors and earned a B.S. in finance and economics. Osaso was an honors student at Eller, as well as a member of Pi Beta Phi and the Investments Club. In a Facebook post published by Eller in 2018, Osaso was also reported to be seeking a minor in Spanish and a degree in Sports Marketing or Global Business.
Osaso worked at Eller in two capacities: front desk assistant for the Dean’s Office in the College of Humanities and Campus Manager for University Tees. Following graduation, Osaso worked as an investment banking analyst at Morgan Stanley in the Global Industrials Group. She currently works at AEA Investors, a middle-market private equity firm based in the United States.
