The show will make its international debut for the first time. It isn’t the only change in the upcoming season, either. There will be around 12 teams competing for the championship this season as opposed to 11 and no non-elimination legs.
One team stands out among the others on the recently disclosed list of The Amazing Race participants. Twin sisters Emily and Molly, who were split up at birth, are on their way to winning one of the greatest races on television.
When the two got back in touch for the first time since they were infants in Korea, it made headlines last year. Before a DNA test brought them back together, they had been adopted by different families and had very different lives.
The beginning of the race is usually quite exciting because there are so many teams and so much potential energy, and we also have a reason to rejoice, according to the event’s organizer.
On September 21 at 10 p.m. ET, CBS will broadcast The Amazing Race’s 400th leg.
The Amazing Race’s 34th season features
After being apart for 36 years, Emily Bushnell and Molly Sinert only recently became aware of one another’s existence. Both were adopted by different families after being born in Korea. While Emily works for a legal firm and is currently based in Pennsylvania, Molly, a hospital administrator, is originally from Florida.
With the two, Wanda Sykes serves as a guest presenter on The Ellen Show. They talked about getting a DNA test, which brought them together. Wanda was informed by Emily that her daughter had asked for a DNA test “year after year” for the previous five years to track Emily’s biological family.
Following a health scare in 2020, Molly looked into genetic marker testing after learning she had no medical history. On March 3, 2021, Molly’s test results indicated that she had one close relative named Isabel, which completely upended their life.
She then got in touch with Isabel through 23andMe and let her know that their DNA was the same and that she had been adopted from South Korea in 1985.
I got an email from 23andMe saying that you have a relative match and that this relative is trying to get in touch with you. She was some sort of sister. At the time, I was unaware that she was a sister who was an exact twin.
Then Emily and her daughter looked for Molly on Google and looked at her pictures and videos, but even though it was clear who it was, she had trouble accepting it was her sister.
They discussed their first meeting, which Emily referred to as “the best day of her life.” They were both scared, according to Molly, who questioned whether Emily would look like her.
In their The Amazing Race introductory video, which Entertainment Weekly uploaded, the two talked about the differences in their upbringings.
They talked about how being a contestant on the show is about more than just winning $1 million; it’s also about spending time with other contestants. As these reunited twins fight for the cash prize and the title on Season 34 of The Amazing Race, viewers will see how similar they are.
