Here’s everything you need to know about Haven Madison from American Idol season 21, episode one, with only a few days until the season premiere.

Haven Madison, the 21st season of American Idol, is the daughter of Building 429’s main vocalist, Jason Roy

Haven Madison is a Clarksville, Tennessee teen. At a young age, she was chosen as America’s Platinum Ticket at the prestigious American Music Awards. Haven is the daughter of Jason Roy, lead singer of the Grammy-nominated Christian contemporary band Building 429.

According to her Spotify profile, Haven was raised in a tour van. Because her father was frequently on the road and brought his family with him, she was homeschooled until a certain age. Haven fell in love with music while on tour with her father.

She has previously released some of her own songs, including a duet with her own brother on her EP All the Things I Didn’t Say. Haven told Clarksville Now in an exclusive interview about her first performance and how her father pushed her to do it:

“‘Go out there and sing with him!’ he exclaimed. Certainly not, I replied. ‘If you go out there, I’ll give you $20!’ he offered. And he succeeded! ‘If you go out there and sing like you’re already back here, I’ll give you $40,’ he added.”

She recalled her most memorable performance as the opening act for Hill Fest:

“‘Haven Madison: Opening,’ it announced. It was strange seeing my name on the shirts; someone asked me to sign everything, and they wanted pictures with me. ‘What on earth is this world?’ I wondered. And that was my first thought: “Here’s my brand.”

She revealed the following about her audition for American Idol:

“When I walked in, I thought to myself, ‘Dude, I’m probably going to get up here, perform my song, Thank you for coming, now go out.’ “Until I stood in front of the three judges, I was still convinced that this was a hoax.”
