Who Is Jayde Adams From “Strictly Come Dancing”?

Jayde Adams

Strictly Come Dancing returns for another season with a diverse and exceptional lineup of superstars ready to compete in ballroom and Latin dance competitions. 15 celebrities and their professional partners will compete to the top by wowing the judges with their dancing routines and glitz.

A well-known comedian is among the 15 celebrities whose participation honors her sister. Jayde Adams, who has only ever danced with her sister, is excited to get back on the floor. While the play means different things to different people, it is about Jayde remembering her sister Jenna, who died over a decade ago.

Jenna Adams was an influential figure in Jayde’s life and continues to do so. Jenna, 23, was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumor after having a seizure. She battled for six years before passing away in 2011. Strictly Come Dancing premieres on BBC One on September 23 at 2:00 p.m. ET/7:01 p.m. BST.

Jayde Adams’ late sister inspired her to compete in Strictly Come Dancing

Celebrities will compete to see who can dance the best in Strictly Come Dancing. Jayde Adams, a comedian, is one such celebrity who wants to use the platform to pay tribute to her older sister, Jenna.

When asked about the death of her sister, she told The Guardian:

“My brother, Kane, had called me 17 times – he never calls. When I reached him, he informed me that Jenna had a seizure. It happened in the car while my father was driving, and he had to take her to the hospital.”

The Strictly Come Dancing star then discussed her sister’s illness, recalling how doctors removed slightly more than half of the brain tumor during the biopsy and how, as a result of the trauma, “she was different thereafter.” Jayde started doing standup comedy after Jenna asked her if she could start making people laugh while she was in the hospital.

Jayde went on to say:

“I started making jokes. Since then, I haven’t stopped writing.”

Jayde’s pain and loss influenced her career, and she went on to become one of the best female comedians in the UK, winning the Funny Woman Award in 2014. She has since hosted a number of programs. Growing up, the sisters enjoyed dancing together and participated in dance competitions, including freestyle disco dancing.

She competed in dance with her sister at her aunt’s dance studio in Bristol for 13 years. Jayde had not danced with anyone else since her sister’s death until today. She will compete in Strictly Come Dancing Season 20 and believes her sister is “orchestrating everything” for her.

She stated in an interview with The Mirror:

“Everything is so coincidental. For me, it’s a very emotional experience.”

Jayde continued, saying:

“I can’t express how grateful I am; this means so much to me and my family.”
