Paul Ogrady’s only daughter is Sharon Lee Janse. The late television personality and friend Diane Jansen shared their child. Sharon O’Grady was born in May 1974. Thus, she is 49 in 2023. O’Grady helped Sharon after her birth, but he refused to marry Jansen because he knew he was gay.

Mary Savage and Patrick Grady had Paul Ogrady. Irish immigrants raised his mother in England. His father was Irish and grew born in Ballincurry County before moving to England in 1936. Paul preserved his new last name after a paperwork blunder transformed it from “Grady” to “O’Grady” when he joined the Royal Air Force.
Paul was his parents’ third child. Brendan and Sheila are his older siblings. O’Grady moved to London in his 20s to work as a Camden municipal social worker. By 1978, he was perfecting his drag identity Lily Savage, a loud-mouthed single mother and sometimes sex worker based on female relatives, in gay clubs.
After being nominated for the UK’s most prestigious comedy award, the Perrier, O’Grady earned extensive attention by appearing on radio and television as himself. In 2004, Paul O’Grady retired Lily Savage.
