Despite his fame for his wealthy agricultural company, Sizwe’s grandfather came from a very poor family. Isaac Dhlomo had to drop out of school in grade 4 after his father died in order to support his mother and younger brothers. He eventually got into farming and was quite successful. Furthermore, Isaac Dhlomo is said to be an African National Congress (ANC) supporter.

He was said to have helped Anton Lembede, the first ANC Youth League president, become a partner at Pixley ka Seme. Sizwe Dhlomo’s grandfather, who lent Lambede nearly R100,000 at the time, named the ANCYL’s first president a partner in the legal business in 1946.

Furthermore, apartheid resistance hero Olivier Tambo and late Zambian President Kenneth Kaunda were friends of Isaac Dhlomo. After Kaunda died in 2021, the media personality paid tribute to him by releasing a photograph of him and Tambo taken by his grandfather.

In 2015, Khanyi Dhlomo opened the Luminance boutique. Her media venture, Ndalo Media, was closed down four years later. Khanyi was named the Most Influential Woman in South African Media in 2003 for her contributions.

Sizwe Dhlomo, then 22, landed his first TV hosting gig

Dhlomo was 22 years old when he had to leave his job as a computer programmer to pursue a career in broadcasting. At the time, he won the MTV Base talent competition. As a result, he was the first video jockey on the music station. He got his first VJ job on MTV Base World Chart Express’s first season.

He worked with music stations for many years, interviewing celebrities such as John Legend, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Akon, 2-Face, and Sean Paul. Sizwe Dhlomo flew to the VMAs in Scotland in 2014 as part of the MTV Base global contingent. Meanwhile, he was the digital presenter for the 16th South African Music Awards, which were held in Suncity in 2010.

The following year, he began co-hosting SSizwe Dhlomo1 Live with Bonang Matheba. His tenure was, however, brief, as he resigned from the position in 2011. Following that, Sizwe Dhlomo worked as a SuperSport presenter. He was also part of the Newsroom Afrika team.

Dhlomo’s Radio Station Career Started in the early 2010s

Sizwe Dhlomo left SSizwe Dhlomo1 to work in radio, eventually joining YFM. He left the radio station in 2013 to become a member of the 947 crew. He worked as a broadcaster for 702 FM and Cape Talk radio while there. Obviously, his charisma and understanding of young culture have led to him becoming one of South Africa’s most well-known radio and television voices.

Sizwe Dhlomo was named the next Kaya FM afternoon drive program presenter in June 2020, and his career is still on the rise. The following month, he took over as program host, succeeding Ndumiso Ngcobo and Kgomotse Matsunyane. As of this writing, he is still the host of the Kaya Drive program, and he has made the afternoon drive show fairly well-known across the country.
