The second round of American Idol season 21 auditions will air on ABC this Sunday, February 26 at 8 p.m. ET. 14 vocalists will compete in the famous music challenge in front of judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie.

Trey Louis is a Dallas Cowboys fan who graduated from Santa Fe High School in 2019. He frequently posts his live performances on social media, with some of them becoming popular, such as You Should Definitely Exit and Shattered Halos. On May 18, 2018, he survived the Sante Fe High School attack and was rescued by a student he didn’t know at the time, Christian Riley Garcia.
Six days after the incident, he revealed in an Instagram post that he took refuge in a cupboard after the accused opened fire in his art classroom. Christian told him to flee the supply cupboard while he was in charge of keeping the door open.
Trey discovered, after exiting the school through the back door, that he was the only one in his class who had successfully fled. Many of his instructors, including Christian Riley Garcia, died on that day. He stated in the article:
“That’s correct. I’ll never be the same again. Nobody in art class will ever be the same again, and neither will these instructors… This only strengthened us, and nothing can stand in the way of a strong collective family.”
The tragic incident claimed the lives of ten people. Trey now wishes to present his community in a positive light, nearly five years after the incident. In an interview with ABC13, he stated:
“It’s a lovely little town that was devastated by a terrible accident.”
Laurie, Trey’s mother, also stated in her interview that she recognized God had a reason for saving him in 2018, and that reason was to do something good for their community. He has over 1,150,000 followers on TikTok. Louis also performed Whisky Myers’ “Stone” in memory of his late friend Chris Stone, who was killed in the attack.

Ryan Seacrest hosts American Idol Season 21, which is judged by Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie. Candidates auditioned for the Hollywood Week Challenge in Las Vegas, New Orleans, and Nashville. Diamond ticket holders will be able to skip the first round of the tournament and select their duo partner ahead of everyone else. After numerous fights on various topics and stages, the winner of the music challenge will receive the “American Idol” title and a monetary reward.
ABC describes the series as follows:
“Several American competitors demonstrate their vocal ability in front of a panel of distinguished evaluators to win the championship and a record company contract.”
Every Sunday at 8 p.m. ET, ABC airs new episodes of American Idol. Following their broadcast debut, the shows are transferred to YouTube by the network.
