The current coach of Alexei Popyrin is former top-20 player and Belgian great Xavier Malisse.
Popyrin said he was relieved to see his effort under the new coach paying off after a difficult 2022.
After a challenging season the previous year, Popyrin commented on the victory on the court. He said that it felt nice to defeat a top-tier opponent. In his words, it demonstrated that the effort he had done in the off-season was “paying off already.”
