One of the first things people noticed about Shirley or Brown, was her weight loss, which was well-known. Fans are still curious about Brown’s transformation even though the show ended in 2015 and Brown has since worked on several projects.
What then led to her weight loss?
She was still enrolled in the Community when she received the diagnosis in 2013. But the disease was nothing new to her. She had been prediabetic for ten years and knew people who had the illness.
But she had no idea that things would get worse. She started to Parade in 2016 that she had been prediabetic for about ten years and had the impression that she would never develop true diabetes.
She experienced a startling awakening. Brown realized she had to change her lifestyle to manage her Type 2 diabetes. The actress then handled it the only way she knew how: by making jokes about it.
She said, “You can choose to travel down the dark road or the light road in everything in life, and I chose the light way.
She had a solid network of supporters. She chose to hide her illness from her Community castmates for a few months, but they were nonetheless encouraging of her. Her dentist also helped her find humor in her day-to-day battles with the illness. They had fun together, as she said repeatedly during the interview.
After the diagnosis, she was able to get her health back on track. She also took care of her teeth, drank enough water, exercised, and made better food choices, among other things. All of these adjustments in her daily life caused her to lose weight and appear smaller.
In 2014, she made fun of her diagnosis and weight reduction by joking, “When they tell you they’re going to take your feet out, you stop eating doughnuts.”
She felt terrific in addition to looking great. And her success was largely due to portion control. She has never been the type to worry about numbers, except one instance.
Yvette Jennifer Brown On Weight Loss
Brown was indifferent to her figures, even though she had a figure to show for her drastic weight loss. She said of worrying about her weight and clothing size in a 2017 interview with Vulture, “That’s definitely vanity driven.” Do you understand how small your waist is? What’s your butt’s measurement?
Instead, she focused on her blood glucose level, which was a more significant figure. Brown said that she was never the Halle Berry type and had never wanted to be, saying, “I’m just trying to shed diabetes.”
Brown never exhibited weight-related self-consciousness or dislike for the label “chubby.” Instead, she realized that being healthy was the only goal she had and that she wanted everyone to know it.
She seems to be in excellent shape and, hopefully, her diabetes is still improving.
