“Darren Henley (D.H. Peligro) of the Dead Kennedys passed away yesterday, October 28, in his Los Angeles residence. He passed away as a result of brain injuries brought on by an inadvertent fall, according to the local police. Plans are nearing completion and will be made public soon.
In February 1981, Peligro became a member of the Dead Kennedys, and he later contributed to many of their albums. Prior to reuniting with his former band, he also spent a brief period of time with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Following the band’s confirmation of D.H. Peligro’s passing, a number of the drummer’s fans and peers posted their condolences online. Users posted pictures of the late drummer and shared their thoughts on what he meant to punk music.
Flea, the bassist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, expressed his sorrow for D.H. Peligro’s passing in a lengthy Instagram post. With a black-and-white image of the late drummer from his youth, Flea made the following comment:
“My brother, my dear friend You are sorely missed. I’m crying a lot right now because I’m sad, but I’ll enjoy every moment of my life. You amazed me the first time I saw you play with the DKs in 1981. the fortitude, bravery, and spirit.
You were my dear friend through many experiences of many kinds. Having each other’s backs was so much fun and made us happy. I absolutely adore you.
You are a true rockstar and a significant figure in rhcp history. D H P, you wacky dude, you joy-maker, you big-hearted man, you will endure forever in our hearts. You have my undying respect. Be free from all that tied you and rest in peace.

On July 9, 1959, D.H. Peligro was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He revealed to Los Angeles Weekly in 2018 that he moved to San Francisco as a teenager and played drums for neighborhood punk bands there, one of which frequently opened for the Dead Kennedys.
The musician claimed that he was employed by a motel when he learnt about a position available with the Dead Kennedys.
I went to the audition because the drummer had left and I was free, and the rest is history.
In 1981, Peligro became a member of the group and later contributed to its EP In God We Trust. In addition to Plastic Surgery Disasters (1982), Frankenchrist (1985), Bedtime for Democracy (1986), and Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death (1988), he has also made appearances in a number of studio albums (1987).
He briefly joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers when the Dead Kennedys disbanded in 1986 and contributed to the songwriting for their fourth album, Mother’s Milk. In 2001, D.H. Peligro reconnected with the Dead Kennedys, and he did so up until his passing. He took a year off in 2008 before returning to the group in 2009.
